Protecting your data matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains how quietask processes personal data when you use our service, in accordance with the GDPR and applicable Austrian data protection law.

2. Overview: What is quietask?
- Questions & Answers: You can post questions with an account or as a guest. As a guest, you choose a nickname.
- Email is optional: If you provide an email address when posting a question (or during registration), we use it for verification, notifications, and security-related messages.
- Content review: Submitted questions may be reviewed before publication (e.g., abuse prevention, safety, rule compliance).
- Radio feature: We offer a radio section that plays music from free sources (e.g., Pixabay Music).
3. Data We Process & Legal Bases

Registration (optional): Registration is possible with or without an email address. If you provide an email address, we use it for verification, notifications, and security-related messages.
Legal basis: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and/or legitimate interests in secure operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Posting questions as a guest: You can post questions without creating an account by choosing a nickname. Providing an email address is optional. If you provide an email address, we may use it to notify you about replies/status updates (where available) and for security/system messages.
Legal basis: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and/or consent where a purely optional notification feature is used (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Content review (moderation): To keep the platform safe and to enforce our rules, we may review content (e.g., questions) automatically and/or manually. This involves processing the submitted content, metadata (timestamp), and, where relevant, technical information (e.g., truncated IP address; see “Website visits”).
Legal basis: legitimate interests in fraud/abuse prevention and platform security (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Website visits: IP addresses may be stored in a shortened/anonymized form for technical security and troubleshooting. We do not intend to directly identify individuals without additional information.

Anonymous 24/7 chat: The chat can be used anonymously. We do not require real names. Messages are stored to operate the chat. IP addresses are not permanently linked to chat messages.
Legal basis: legitimate interests in providing a functional and secure communication service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Radio (music stream): When you play the radio, technically necessary data is processed (e.g., requesting the stream, connection data). Technical logs may be created to ensure reliable operation.
Legal basis: legitimate interests in operating an audio feature (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Usage analytics: We may use anonymized analytics via Matomo (self-hosted), Google Analytics, and Google Search Console (depending on your consent).
Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) via the cookie banner.

Cookies: Essential cookies (e.g., session, dark mode) and optional cookies for analytics/comfort features.
Legal basis: legitimate interests for essential cookies (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and consent for optional cookies (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
4. Third Parties & Services
- Matomo: self-hosted in Germany. Data is not shared with third parties.

Google Analytics: used to analyze usage. IP anonymization is enabled. Data may be processed on US servers. More information:

- Google Search Console: used to improve discoverability. Processes aggregated search query data.

Fonts: own fonts + Bunny Fonts (“Inter”). Bunny Fonts are delivered via European servers from
bunny.net.

Images: Images may come from sources such as Unsplash.

Other tools: SimpleMDE (editor), Bootstrap & Tabler.io (frameworks).

Radio music sources: The radio section uses music from free sources such as Pixabay Music. Use is subject to the respective providers’ license terms.
5. Retention Period
We store data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above:
- Session cookies: typically until you close your browser (or according to your cookie settings).
- IP/security logs: up to 30 days (unless longer retention is exceptionally required to investigate/mitigate abuse or attacks).
- Registration data: until the account is deleted.
- Guest questions: as long as needed to provide the question/answers and prevent abuse; deletion according to platform rules or upon request if no legal/technical reasons prevent it.
- Chat messages: stored to operate the chat; regularly deleted unless technical or security-related reasons require otherwise.
6. Location Data
We do not collect or store precise location data.
7. Hosting
Servers are located in Germany. Provider: Hostinger.
8. External Links
We are not responsible for content on external websites linked from quietask. The privacy policies of the respective providers apply.
9. Your Rights
You have the right to access, rectify, delete, restrict processing, data portability, and object to processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority (Austrian
Data Protection Authority).
